Description: When
completing training or submitting an exam
you receive the message The error you are receiving is due to the personal firewall running on your machine. You will need to disable the firewall to successfully submit your results. Below are directions on how to disable a few of the more popular firewall applications on the market: Norton Internet Securities, Zone Alarm, the Microsoft firewall included in Service Pack to for Windows XP, and the McAfee Personal Firewall. Please be advised however that there are many other firewall's, if YOUR firewall is not listed please contact the maker of your firewall application. Before you start you should clear out your web browser history and cache. The web browser will retain results from failed web page requests and/or results which remain to be sent. These files need to be deleted or you will still have errors trying to complete SAM assignments even if you have the correct firewall settings. Clear Internet Explorer History and Cache 1. Click Tools
Norton Internet Security (and other firewall's) has been known to affect SAM 2003's performance with its Personal Firewall feature. This firewall monitors Port 80 and needs to be disabled in order for SAM 2003 to run properly.
To disable Norton's Internet Security Personal Firewall: 1. Locate the icon in the system tray
2. Right Click on the icon
To disable Zone Alarm Firewall: 1. Locate the icon in the system tray
2. Right Click on the icon
To disable the Microsoft firewall on Windows XP: 1. Please go the Start Menu and select All Programs
To disable McAfee Personal Firewall – 1. Disable the firewall by right-clicking on the firewall icon in the taskbar near your clock and selecting "Disable" from the menu. 2. In the window that opens click "Yes" indicating that you are sure you want to shutdown McAfee Personal Firewall.
