Spring 2012
I will be teaching 5 sections of CIS 110.
All classes will be using Office 2010 exclusively.
Access to the class web site including account activation will be available on the first day of class as follows:
Sections 5143 & 5144 - starts January 30 ends April 27
Sections 5145 & 5149 - starts February 13 ends May 11
Section 6784 - starts January 23 ends May 18
Please note that I do not use Blackboard for any part of my class. All content and assignments are on my class web site which you can access via the links below.
There are no required on campus meetings for my classes. Tests, lab assignments and lectures will be delivered on-line.
Students will need a reliable computer and Internet connection.
The computer must have Microsoft Office 2010 including:

Internet Explorer, required for using the optional Myitlab training and tutoring software
On Campus Meetings: There will be an optional on campus orientation during the first week of class. Students may be required to complete the midterm and final on campus and present their project to the instructor in the class. Chapter tests, lab assignments and lectures will be delivered on-line. I will be on campus most Thursday evenings for tutoring and assistance. Times to be announced in the class news.

Wait list students - 2 to 3 days before class begins I will send an email to the email address you gave to the admissions office with instructions for obtaining your add code. I will send email offers for add codes Typically I give out 2 or 3 add codes for each section. Students

Crashers - I do not accept crashers until all students from the wait list have had an opportunity to add the class. I recommend that you put yourself on the priority wait list if you want to get into the class.
About this class - This class is an introduction to Information Technology (IT) for business and related majors using Excel and Access. This class is articulated to the IDS 180 class at SDSU. This class is not a beginning computer class using Office applications and does not cover Word or PowerPoint.
Time commitment - Students taking this class during the summer can expect to spend 2 to 3 hours per day Monday - Friday or about 9 to 12 hours per week working on assignments. Some students may need less and some students may considerably more time to complete their work.
